Swamp Rat Skiffs is a family-owned business building high tech fishing skiffs locally in Mackay, Australia. We work directly with the customer to produce one of a kind personalised fishing skiff that legally fits in a dual cab Ute tray.
Caravanning? A Swamp Rat Skiff will fit in the tray of a dual cab ute while the caravan is on the back of the vehicle. One of our customers travelled over 4000km’s on a family caravanning holiday down to Nambucca Heads and was able to take both the caravan and the boat.
After two years of intensive research and born from years of fishing experiences and personal challenges, The Swamp Rat Skiff addresses common angler issues. The compact design ensures stability and ease of storage. Featuring large dry insulated compartments for rods, seat, tackle, and safety gear. Crafted using cutting-edge vacuum infusion technology, the Swamp Rat Skiff is not just a vessel – it’s a lightweight, one-of-a-kind personal fishing platform.
Powered by a petrol (6hp) or electric outboard you will never have to paddle again. We have partnered with Epropulsion and designed our stringer system to allow the electric outboard to be stored inside the skiff for storage while 4×4 or caravanning. With a Draft of only three inches underway it is possible to reach locations that kayak and tinny owners can dream of. If you run out of water, no worries, the built-in 3D printed pneumatic wheels will help you get over that sandbar and back underway. Say goodbye to huge fuel bills when fishing on a Swamp Rat, a Suzuki 6hp four stroke will see a fuel rate of 14km/1L, a fishing trip can cost less than $2.00
Swamp Rat Skiffs will be entering the Tinny Rally Challenge in March 2026. This is an endurance challenge along the Murry River of over 700km’s and will be completed unsupported to showcase the durability and fuel efficiency of our skiffs. Follow us on our Facebook site to watch this adventure!
